This major addition involved renovating almost every part of the
house, which was featured in Sunset Magazine. One major
objective of the client was to have more room for casual entertaining.
First, we opened up the space and added a dining room and family room
so that the kitchen, dining room, family room and living room all
flow and work well together. Each part of the house was completely
renovated using a variety of materials that are contemporary and
natural, including exposed steel columns in the family room, sycamore
cabinets in the kitchen and living room, floating glass shelves and
"slatescape" countertops.

The master bedroom was more remotely located in the upper floor
two-story addition. Wrap-around windows on three sides create a
treehouse effect focusing on the landscape that surrounds the house.

We took advantage of each and every space - in and around the library,
closets, stairs, media cabinet and art display niches, including the
unique tansu-type step unit under the stairs and built-in media center
that was featured in Sunset Magazine.
